Role Overview — ELL Teacher (Grades 5–8)
- Seeking results-driven, culturally responsive ELL educators aligned to our four principles: Belief & Connection, Clear is Kind, Intent & Impact, Cultural Context + Critical Thinking.
- Content needs across Middle School: English Language Learner / ELL, plus collaboration with Math, Science, English, History, and Specials.
Primary Responsibilities — Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (ELL)
- Develop and adapt ELL-aligned curriculum to state/Common Core standards.
- Design assessments; use data to drive ELL instruction and student growth.
- Differentiate for English Learners’ language proficiency and learning profiles.
- Deliver rigorous, engaging ELD instruction with urgency and high expectations.
- Collaborate with content/grade teams to promote critical thinking and academic rigor.
- Assume additional duties as assigned by the Principal.

- Build authentic relationships that engage EL students in deep learning.

ELL-Specific Responsibilities — Services and Compliance
- Identify and serve EL students per state, federal, and district guidelines.
- Provide ELD via inclusion and/or pull-out models based on proficiency and needs.
- Teach targeted English language development (reading, writing, speaking, listening) for grades 5–12.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language supports.
- Implement ELL services aligned to school plans; ensure compliance.
- Communicate with families; partner with translators as needed.
- Maintain and update Individual Student Plans (ISPs) using performance data.
- Administer/proctor WIDA; ensure accommodations on state/district assessments.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s required; master’s preferred.
- Experience teaching in urban/public charter settings preferred.
- Meets state and federal requirements for licensure; ELL/ESOL endorsement a plus.
- Demonstrated belief in all students’ potential and Kauffman School mission.
- Strong feedback orientation, attention to detail, and strategic execution.
