Role Overview — ELL Teacher (Grades 5–8) Seeking results-driven, culturally responsive ELL educators aligned to our four principles: Belief & Connection, Clear is Kind, Intent & Impact, Cultural Context + Critical Thinking. Content needs across Middle School: English Language Learner / ELL, plus collaboration with Math, Science, English, History, and Specials. Primary Responsibilities — Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (ELL) Develop and adapt ELL-aligned curriculum to state/Common Core standards. Design assessments; use data to drive ELL instruction and student growth. Differentiate for English Learners’ language proficiency and learning profiles. Deliver rigorous, engaging ELD instruction with urgency and high expectations. Collaborate with content/grade teams to promote critical thinking and academic rigor. Assume additional duties as assigned by the Principal. Building School Culture Build authentic relationships that engage EL students in deep learning. Model and reinforce PREP values: Perseverance, Results, Empathy, Passion. Uphold consistent systems and expectations; be accountable for mastery. Embrace feedback; demonstrate professionalism, humility, and strong work ethic. ELL-Specific Responsibilities — Services and Compliance Identify and serve EL students per state, federal, and district guidelines. Provide ELD via inclusion and/or pull-out models based on proficiency and needs. Teach targeted English language development (reading, writing, speaking, listening) for grades 5–12. Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language supports. Implement ELL services aligned to school plans; ensure compliance. Communicate with families; partner with translators as needed. Maintain and update Individual Student Plans (ISPs) using performance data. Administer/proctor WIDA; ensure accommodations on state/district assessments. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s required; master’s preferred. Experience teaching in urban/public charter settings preferred. Meets state and federal requirements for licensure; ELL/ESOL endorsement a plus. Demonstrated belief in all students’ potential and Kauffman School mission.
